The 38th Annual Exhibition of the International Photographic Society (IPS) runs from May 5 to June 6, 2008 at the IMF HQ1 2nd Floor Gallery
This year’s exhibit includes 190 images by 35 photographers from 24 countries. All exhibitors are engaging in photography as a serious artistic pursuit. Most have informal training, often through activities organized by IPS members.
Although this is the 38th Annual Exhibition, this year marks the 42nd anniversary of IPS, which was established in 1966 to offer a venue for the documentary and artistic images of staff. Thanks to the passion and dedication of countless staff and retirees over the years, it is one of the oldest clubs of the World Bank Group and IMF.
Images by IPS photographers decorate some of the common areas of the Bank (e.g. the J tunnel). In addition, IPS is very active among the photographic community in the Washington area, and is among the best known of our ambassadors in the local community. IPS is a shining example of Bank-Fund collaboration, only some of whose beautiful results we see displayed in this exhibit.
